"Keeping God's Commands Is What Counts"

This is something i think we all as Christians struggle with. We all cannot be completely perfect in God's eyes even though those are his expectations. Thats why he sent Jesus to come and allow us to be imperfect. But we must still try to meet the expectations of Christ. Praise God that he has given us this big chance for salvation.

The verse i picked today isnt really what sums up the devo, but i think its REALLY important.

19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts. - 1 Corinthians 7:19

Circumcision was used in the past to indicate whether or not you were a Christ follower or not. But those were the Old Testament times. After the new testament came in, things changed, others were allowed to become followers and Christianity opened up to the world. Thats why it says that it doesnt matter if you are circumcised or not. It doesnt matter if your black or beige, if you're from China or Africa, the gospel is open to you. Everyone. But when you accept it, that one moment, there is only one true test. If you stay with him. If you obey his commands. That will be what distinguishes you from the others. Its what will grant you your key to enter the gates of heaven. Obeying his commands is not GOOD DEEDS, but the believe. Staying in your faith. Serving others.

There's one verse that strikes home hard.

10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. - James 2:10

Doesnt this kinda shatter your hopes? Its pretty hard, but thats true. I guess you can also interpret it this way. You may live by God obeying all his commands, but by breaking one, its the same as breaking them all. Its like you live a "healthy" life, you eat fruits and veggies, all the proper servings, but then you smoke. "But i eat everything whole grain with nutrients and vitamins!" You smoke, therefore you're kinda contradicting all of it. Does that make more sense? Although again, its impossible, but we HAVE to try and HAVE to strive. When we fall short, repent and ask for forgiveness. He will forgive and be just.

6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. - 1 John 2:6

verse of the day: 1 Corinthians 7:19
19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts.
