Glory

Today's devotional was kinda hard to understand.. i felt like things were taking out of context a lot ... and a lot of it was for Jesus... not very applicable to us individuals from my first overlook. I shall try to make it relevant without twisting the Word. Its probably gonna be more of a reflective piece.

"We must do what the one who sent me wants us to do while it is day. The night when no one can do anything is coming."

This is an interesting line dont you think? Shall we break it down?

"WE MUST DO WHAT THE ONE WHO SENT ME WANTS ME TO DO"
Must is the key word here, saying that it has to be done. what must be done? Later on it talked about The One Who Sent Me, as Jesus answered according to the word. I feel like this is our calling to our purpose in life. God gave us life with specific gifts and purposes. We have to first discover that by building our relationship with Christ, to then use our gift to execute it for his Glory.

"WHILE IT IS DAY, THE NIGHT WHEN NO ONE CAN DO ANYTHING"
This can be taken in different ways. At first i thought i didnt LITERALLY mean DAY and NIGHT, but now that i think about it, i kinda can. Its harder to work at night, although you can still do it, but.. its harder. The imagery of day and night is really interesting. Day is when light is shining, it says that we must do it while it is day... light means sight. Im sure all of us can agree when we say that things are done much easier and faster in light. When you can see what you're doing. Whereas compared to NIGHT, its dark and its much harder to work efficiently. Also, darkness has symbolism to evil, sin, so i guess at "night" or when we are in sinful environments, in Satan's kingdom, it is harder to do what he wants us to do, evangelize.

"IS COMING"
This kinda throws me off. Is coming? Does this mean, it isnt here yet? Does it predict the future, the end of the world? According to the text, Jesus is still alive, so it could possibly signify the end of his life, the crucifixion? Could that count as the night? Why cant anyone do anything? I think it can kinda be saying that when we are presented with the choice between salvation and our sinful ways, when we've picked our choice and its firm in our faith, there's pretty much no turning back. Its possible, but if you indulge in it so much, you yourself without the will power cannot turn back. This could mean a lot of things. What do you think?

verse of the night: John 9:4
We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.
