Because He First Loved...

"Therefore We Should Love Others"

As said over and over and over in this blog, copious amount of times, God sent his son to die on the cross. To shed his blood as the lamb of God, to die and to build the bridge between heaven and earth. Gifting us with salvation if we come to accept it. This is the true sacrifice and the best example of love ever recorded in history. A man to die for another.

Just as he loved us, we love others. We should be doing it out of will, out of love, because we want to. You love the ones you care for no? You help them out right? Love. This four-letter word, that was supposed to be something special, sacred, in life has been twisted and corrupted by the world and media. If you dare try to search "love" on Google, you'd probably find sexual images, not even simple heart shapes anymore. Nowadays, love is just physical, its just sex. Nothing else. But that is completely wrong.

What is love REALLY supposed to be. It can be a simple word or action, to more complex word or action. Just a simple hug. The past year or two, i've really gotten into this whole hugging thing. I truly believe that hugs are one of the greatest ways to express love. In the past, its always been a hi, a wave of hand, a nod of head, or a shake with hands. I think this needs to change. Hugs are amazing. I love hugs. They show warmth and it feels great and embrace others, brothers and sisters in Christ, just anyone. Im sure you'd prefer a hug over a hi-five.

Besides, you never know. Today, everyone is wearing a mask, hiding their fears, they're problems, and sometimes they need a hug. and sometimes that one hug you give as a greeting may be the thing to help them get back to earth, to realize that they are loved. I remember my music teacher once told me that at her old school, she'd always see this one kid in the halls alone when she walks in. Each day she would say a simple hi, and months later, the child's parent approached her telling her she saved him from committing suicide. Its amazing what a bit of love and attention can do.

We are all human, we all need love, we need attention. Without that, we're engulfed by loneliness which can lead to depression and can ultimately and possibly result in deadly consequences. I've been in that stage before. Around the change between elementary and high school, i was really alone. and it sucked. I hated it. I just wanted a hug, someone to talk to, someone to care, someone to notice my existence. It really sucks.

We must learn to love others. This love isnt just a hug here and there. There's a lot more you can do. Simple actions like throwing out their garbage when they forget, to reminding them to print out handouts, to donating blood, bone marrow, and even a kidney. But do you realize something? These are all sacrifices. You're sacrificing your time to throw out their garbage. You're sacrificing your own blood and health to give it to someone in need. All of these are actions of sacrifice. Sacrifice is the true action of love.

Are you loving those around you? Even your enemies. That'll be a whole new post, but we must learn to love everyone around us, if we know them or not. They may be complete strangers, but think, WWJD, what would Jesus do. Love. Love. Love.

verse of the morning: 1 John 4:11
1 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
