Conceived Guilty

"I Am Dark And Lovely"

What a creepy odd intriguing way to start off the devotional tonight! It reminds me of Hamlet that im studying at the moment, how his first line in the play was "A little more than kin, and less than kind".

23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, - Romans 3:23

Just as it states in the beginning of the text, we were all born guilty. From the moment Adam and Eve took a bit from the apple, Sin entered the world, and ever since then, we've become corrupted, guilty, disgusting, and unholy in the eyes of the Lord. We fail, we sin, we have blemishes. Going back to english, im writing about dystopian literature, and how there is no such thing as perfect in this world. If you look around, EVERYTHING we have is corrupt. Things eventually break down, or you lose them. Either way, they "die" eventually. This quote says it perfectly.

"Original sin is that thing about man which makes him capable of conceiving of his own perfection and incapable of achieving it." - Reinhold Niebuhr

Interesting no? But the twist is this. We are beautiful in God's eyes. A complete twist right? like me explain. Although we may be engulfed in this world of sin, of pride, materialism, and idolatry, there's hope. The fundamentals of Christianity. Believing that Christ sent his son down to earth to DIE for our sins. To forgive us for our evil actions, so that the gap between earth, sinful lives, and salvation and heaven can be bridged together. Through the death on the cross. Through the blood shed by the lamb, and his unconditional love. Its beyond words. Its the true sacrifice.

Think of it this way. We as humans are tissues. And each time we sin, we are blown into. And time after time, it gets more and more gross, infested, and contaminated. But as my sunday school teach showed us, she took her bible, put the tissue in and close it shut. What do you see now? Not a dirty tissue, but a clean, strong Bible. Not flaws, no disgust, nothing. That exactly how its like. God has given his son to die on the cross, to cleanse us from our impurities. That way, we are righteous in his eyes and we can enter heaven, compared to our sinful, dark selfs before.

We have been forgiven, and He is good.

We may be "dark" but God still loves us.

verse of the morning: 1 Peter 2:9
9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
