Exodus: Living Authentically

Sometimes I read a passage, and I have no idea what its about, or how it applies, and Exodus 22 did just that, but its always great to have some sort of supplementary text to help support and give more insight to what's been read. Exodus 22 continues the specific yet random list of situations and their appropriate consequences, commanded by God for the Israelites. Sometimes we can take text from the Bible literally, but sometimes we have to think further and truly listen to what God is trying to tell us.

When reading these situations, one can really see that God is extremely clear and concise on every situation, all thought out and explained in great detail. It also parallels the previous post, speaking and reminding me on how clear and strict our faith should be. Black or white.

God made all these laws and situations for the Israelites so they would follow them and be led in the right path. In today's time, we always have certain commands to follow that lead us towards being authentic Christians, true followers of Christ.

Many times we have the misconception of what it means to follow Christ authentically. Often we ask ourselves "how far can I go without sinning?" "where's that border line and how close can i get to it?". We can see and feel the worldly desires and we want to get as close to it without "sinning". Whereas instead, we should veer in the opposite direction, no matter how strong the temptations are and ask "how holy can I be?".

I talked about how important and serious we should take our faith in the previous post, and let us be reminded that we dont deserve such a happy ending, eternal life. It is only because of God's grace and mercy, his overflowing love that he sent his son to die for us, granting us such a gift. We should deserve hell and death. We choose to follow God out of thanksgiving, and we want to show our love and commitment to him with obedience.

What is keeping you from being intimate with God?
Are you living a life as an authentic Christian?

verse of the day: Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
