Exodus: Hardships

Each chapter in Exodus seems to be getting repetitive, where God is constantly telling Moses and Aaron to keep going, to talk to the Pharaoh even when things are not working out. In chapter 7, Moses once again heads to talk to the Pharaoh with Aaron, with miraculous tricks up his sleeve. The first attempt the staff into snake trick, and the Pharaoh summoned his magicians that could do the same. And then came the first plague. Moses turned all the water in the Nile, and in Egypt into blood. But even with all these signs, Pharaoh was hard-hearted, and didn't budge.

What stood out to me was verse three, where God decided to intentionally harden the Pharaoh's heart, making it that much harder to speak to him and to get him to listen. Does that describe you? Someone who's heart is hardened to God's words, who wont budge and listen to Him when he's trying to speak to you? Are you listening to God? At the same time, we cannot just listen when what he says sounds appealing and ignore it when we want, as Christians, we should be fully committed to Christ, we should be willing to follow God's commands and stay strong in his Word.

Now moving back to the perspective of Moses, the past few chapters have mostly been about Moses' attempts to speak to the Pharaoh. He has already failed so many times, everyone was against him, even his own people. We try, we fail, we try again, and we fail again. Giving up is always an option, but will you choose it? Giving up is simple, is effortless, and is the quick escape out of hardship, but you will never grow if you always choose to take the easy way out. Its midterm season for university students, but whether if you're at work, have a family, at school, we always have those days where we're beat down. But will you give up?

verse of the day: James 1:12
12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
