Comfort in Trials

2 Corinthians is Paul's fourth letter to the church of Corinth, written around A.D 55-56. The overarching theme in this book is "the relationship between suffering and the power of the Spirit in Paul's life, ministry and message." Paul is a man who has suffered a whole lot, and people have even said that he has suffered too much to be an apostle, but he believes that God gave him those trials for a reason.

He jumps right into it in the first chapter. He reminds the church that our God is the God of all comfort. The Lord comfort us when we are weak and discouraged, and when we receive this comfort, we are to pass it on to our fellow believers when they need to be comforted as well (v.3-4). Our sufferings are the means God uses to strength other followers of Christ. Paul even said himself that sometimes he felt that the trials that were thrown at him felt like a death sentence (v.9) but it ultimately got him to learn to rely on God. Trusting every move and decision, knowing God has a better and more perfect plan for you and me.

verse of the day: 2 Corinthians 1:21-22
21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
