Exodus: Marvelous Light

Finally after the materials have been collected and gathered, the pieces are finally built by Bezalel, the ark, the table, the lampstand, and the alter were made. And to be completely honest, I didnt feel like there was much content in the chapter, it just consisted of the measurements and the materials used, but my supplementary readings helped relate this back to a well known concept.

The lampstand is obviously used for light, and in the New Testament, we are called to be the light of the world. There is always a conflict between light and dark as it parallels sin and holiness. But what does "walking in the light" mean exactly?
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. - 1 John 1:5-10
If you separate this passage into two, one from verses 5-7 and one from verses 8-9, they basically say the same thing, just in different words. They both talk about God purifying us from sin, and being unable to be one with Christ if we are not cleansed from our wrongs. If you read and analyze closely, one can see that walking in the light is paralleled to confessing our sins. And it makes sense, God is light (v.5) and sin is darkness (v.6). You cannot be in both the light and the dark at the same time, and for us to walk in the light, we must get rid of all darkness.

so are you walking in the light? have we confessed our wrongs and our sins to God? If we hold on to these dark secrets and do not expose them before God, we will never be in full fellowship with Him. There will always be something holding us back, and it will stunt your growth with Christ.

verse of the day: Romans 13:12
12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
