The Fruits of The Spirit: Kindness

"Kindness"

RAOF. Random Acts of Kindness. Have you tried that before? I challenge you each day to do a random act of kindness. To a friend. To a family member. To a stranger. It doesnt have to be grand, it doesnt matter if its small. Something as simple as unfolding chairs for a group of friends, inviting someone to eat with you, standing up for someone, or giving money to someone in need. Be kind to one another.

I love the phrase "killing someone with kindness". It completely constrasts. Killing is usually referred to hate, death, revenge, evil, but why do we kill with kindness? Kindness can so a lot. I get comments all the time saying that "im so nice". Its good. As Christians, we are told to live in the light, live outstandingly in a world of the "sames". Everyone nowadays is conforming with the media, doing what they think is cool or in. Having sex, doing drugs, smoking, but as Christians, we live according to Christ. Not the gospel. And through this, if we stay commit, people see a difference. They question. They become curious, they ask, and its our job to respond with the gospel.

Yes, the offering of a pencil seems small, but small things add up. Sometimes you feel like no one knows. If you help clean up after someone, or you fold their chair for them, no one seems to realize. But the truth is, God sees every effort, every action, and every thing you do. And you will be rewarded. I help write the bible studies and devotionals for my fellowship this year, and sometimes it really hurts to see the devos, untouched, in the recycling, or left on the table after the session is over. We all want to be acknowledged for our work, have someone say "thank you" or "im proud of you". But never try to receive it forcefully. There's no need to get to the bible study, and put "By: Jason Chan" in size 12930 font. There's no need to introduce worship by saying "hi, im the lead vocalist and head of this team because of my past experiences such as blahblahblah". Be humble and kind. You do these things out of kindness, because you love your fellowship, or your friends, and you must constantly remind yourself to not fall into the traps of pride and that although no one may know, but God is watching and he knows. and you will be rewarded.

Dont be afraid to do good kind works. there's no negative consequence of it. Whereas doing evil things, consequences do come. From a bad reputation, to people not liking you, getting into trouble. Satan creates theres bad deeds because there temporary and immediate satisfaction within doing it. Say stealing a bag of chips. You may like the adrenaline of getting caught, and the satisfaction of eating, but the consequence, reputation goes down the drain, criminal records for something more severe.

Continue to learn to be kind. Dont be afraid to show it. Some people think its weakness, it really isnt. It works too. I went to OJ for my missions trip last summer. Sharing the gospel didnt necessarily require the speaking of crucifixion, but simple acts of love showed the Jesus cared about them. It touched their hearts, and for me, ha it touched mine for sure. Crying my eyes out.

Kindness can go a long way.

verse of the day: Galatians 6:9
9And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
